Erbita Remix Ep

"Erbita" is an unpublished instrumental piece by Bir Tawil, Carlo H. Natoli, and Dario Defippo, punctuated by the sampled voice of Ignazio Buttitta reading his poem "Un Popolu": the idea that the assassination of dialects and linguistic peculiarities is the true weapon against the freedoms of peoples, especially those who are poor and oppressed, has never been so simultaneously relevant. However, if Erbita, one of the last flourishing Sicilian cities from around '400 BC that sought to survive through agreements and later resistance to the impending Greek domination of the island, represents a form of resistance, it is not of a reactionary or protectionist nature: understanding the other, and the vision that the other has of ourselves, is fundamental. This is why we decided to accompany the track with remixes, rewrites, and reinterpretations by friends, comrades, and associates, in their near or distant interpretations.
